First Disney Theme Park in the Arab World to Open in Abu Dhabi

Disney Park in AbuDhabi

Abu Dhabi is gearing up to host the Middle East’s very first Disney theme park. Thanks to a landmark collaboration between The Walt Disney Company and Miral, the UAE’s premier developer of entertainment destinations. This highly anticipated resort will be built on Yas Island, a hotspot for family-friendly attractions and tourism.

The official announcement was made on Wednesday, May 7, by Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of both the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and Miral, alongside Disney CEO Bob Iger. This alliance represents the UAE’s efforts to position itself as a global leader in the entertainment industry.

Disney Expands to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

The upcoming Disney resort on Yas Island will be the seventh official Disney theme park destination worldwide, joining the ranks of iconic locations in California, Florida, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

Located in Abu Dhabi, this new Middle East Disney park is designed for a diverse audience, attracting visitors from the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. With its prime location and global appeal, the resort is expected to draw millions of international and regional tourists each year.

Behind the Scenes: Who’s Building the Disney Park in Abu Dhabi?

Miral will handle the full construction and development of the new Disney theme park on Yas Island, while Disney will focus on the creative side, including the design of rides, attractions, and how the park will run. Once the park is built, Miral will manage daily operations, using its strong experience working with global entertainment brands.

The new Disney Yas Island resort will combine Disney’s famous stories, exciting rides, and immersive experiences, specially designed for both Middle East visitors and international tourists. This project is part of Abu Dhabi’s plan to become a top destination for family tourism and cultural experiences.

Disney’s New Yas Island Park Will Be Easy to Reach for Millions

Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports have big plans to become top global travel hubs. Their goal is to connect one-third of the world’s population within a 4-hour flight, including over 1.4 billion people in India. For many, Disney’s new Abu Dhabi theme park will be closer than visiting Disney parks in Shanghai or Hong Kong.

The Disney resort will be built on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi’s top entertainment destination. It’s being developed by Miral, the same company behind SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld, and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.

Yas Island is just 20 minutes from central Abu Dhabi and 50 minutes from Dubai. It already has multiple theme parks, a marina, a golf course, a shopping mall, and over 160 restaurants, making it a favorite spot for families and tourists.

Theme park expert Tom Bricker said this could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: “This new Disney park may even be better than Shanghai Disneyland, and it will likely become the main attraction for Yas Island.”

With strong demand, smart planning, and a central location, the Disney Yas Island park has a strong chance of becoming a major success for the UAE’s tourism and entertainment industry.
